As
one of the first to go through the CIM program, Caroline feels its
strengths are its focus on teamwork and overall preparation of students
for the job market. “The reputation of the college and the
new program definitely helped me get a job. Before I graduated,
I got a job working as a designer at HNTB in the interactive media
department.”
Caroline now has her own Web design company, Web Design Duo, which
she started with a partner in August 2001. The team focuses on Web
design and usability for the front end and builds secured online
software that connects to the Web site. “Our clients can go
online and update parts of their site without having to call us.
It’s all browser based, so clients don’t have to buy
different licenses or know any code. They can access the site anywhere.”
“We do it all, from sales and marketing, to networking to
design and development,” Caroline says of the company.
Her associates degree in business administration – which
she earned from JCCC while completing the CIM certificate –
coupled with the project management side of the CIM program, helped
Caroline “be brave enough” to start her own business.
“It’s a hard market, but it’s a good market. I
get to meet a lot of people in the city and the work is really rewarding,
and I love working for myself.” |
