General information on interiors courses for fall 2009:

Each JCCC student is assigned a JCCC email address. Faculty will use this account to provide class information and IDSA will use this email address to provide you with the most current activities and opportunities available. You can easily roll the account into your current personal email so you don’t have to have yet another account to check. Please do this if you haven’t already done so. For your privacy JCCC listserve messages will only be sent to your JCCC student email account.

Please visit the interiors website at http://web.jccc.net/interiordesign/ regularly.  Click on departments and go to Interior Design. A current calendar of events is available along with much department and IDSA information that may be able to provide answers for some of your questions.

Courses for each of the certificates and associate degrees are listed by semester in the college catalog, web site, and program brochure. The courses are listed in order of recommended sequence. While we understand your personal schedule plays a role in your choice of courses each semester, so does the sequence you take courses.  While not every course has a pre-requisite, certain skills are learned that will be valuable to you if learned and used sequentially during your course of study.  As an example, your selections of fabrics for projects in Design Presentation are enhanced by your knowledge of interior textiles- your knowledge allows you to choose appropriate fabrics, not just pretty fabrics.

To graduate in four (4) semesters:

ITMD 121 and DRAF 164 must be taken in the same semester.

ITMD 123 and ITMD 129 must also be taken in the same semester.

If a student is not concerned about a four (4) semester graduation time line, the courses may be taken in separate semesters.

Both ITMD 121 and DRAF 164 must be completed before enrolling in ITMD 123 or 129.

ITMD 127, Floral Design, is an elective course.  Many students take this course for both career and personal enrichment. The course does have additional costs for materials.

ITMD 175, Advanced Floral Design, is an elective course. The pre-requisite is ITMD 127. Many students take this course for both career and personal enrichment. The course does have additional costs for materials.

ITMD 237 and 239, Capstone: Portfolio and Presentation should be taken the last semester the student is in school. If you plan on graduating spring 2010 or fall 2011 I would appreciate knowing who you are.  Stop by the office or e-mail me with that information, so we can make an appointment to review graduation requirements.

ITMD 282 and 284, Interior Internship I and II, students enrolled in these courses will receive packets in the mail.  It is important for you to read the information carefully as required deadlines are established in the packet. If you are enrolled in the course and do not receive a packet by August 17th please contact me at janc@jccc.edu

Not all classes are offered every semester due to space constraints and instructor availability.
