along with color correction. There is also capital funding that will allow the

installed- this is a floor to ceiling system.
Learning Communities:
Donna Duffy spoke about the Materials and Resources Learning Community.
She stated that over the last 7-8 semesters there is significant evidence
that the learning level is advantageous in the learning community and this is a
positive advantage.
The Art History/History of Furniture
and Ornamentation Learning Community will be taught again next semester.
The Tuesday/Thursday class will be held on Tuesdays in a Nerman museum
education classroom and then Thursdays at the Nelson Atkins Museum as well as
the Spencer in Lawrence.
20/20 classes:
Currently 20/20 is being taught in a workshop on the Saturday prior to
the semester starting. We are
developing a new course outline for a one credit class.
Diana Ingham and Darla Green spoke on how 20/20 is being utilized in
Kitchen and Bath, Residential and Commercial Design classes.
It is a good application to do perspectives and then you can do hand
drawings. Several advisory board
members spoke saying that it would be beneficial for students to have a more in
depth knowledge of 20/20. A one credit class is 15 classroom hours and can be a
4- 5 week course. It was suggested that this course be on a Saturday or evening
so that industry people would also be able to benefit from it.
Sustainability:
Sustainability and Green Design are major discussions on campus. A college task
force has been formed. We currently
are looking into ways to be better stewards within the college, partnering with
the community and looking at new curriculum and degree options.
We also have a grant for a sustainable center.
Jan and Jo Randolph are going to the AASHE Conference in North Carolina
with 4 others from JCCC. Lindy spoke
on how the purchasing department is going to be utilizing the green statements.
JCCC will use vendors that have green products for us to purchase.
Interior design currently has a one
credit hour course, Sustainable Design. We
would like to consider a possible sustainable design certificate.
Diana and Jan discussed what else can be taught, such as classes on
“Economics of Sustainability and Environmental Science.
Our Materials and Resources class is also teaching about “green”,
sustainable and eco friendly materials.
Jan asked for input from the board to make the curriculum stronger.
